Bowl of orange-cranberry sauce with wooden serving spoon

Orange Cranberry Sauce

Kick classic cranberry sauce up a notch with fresh orange juice and orange zest, which add a refreshing citrus flavor. Yes, it’s delicious with roasted turkey, but why stop there? Spoon it over green bean casserole, stuffing and more. Save the leftovers and try stirring a spoonful into a cup of yogurt or a breakfast smoothie.

Makes about 2¼ cups

  • ¾ cup sugar
  • ½ cup orange juice
  • ¼ teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 (12-ounce) package fresh or frozen cranberries
  • 1 tablespoon grated orange zest or orange peel cut into very thin strips (no white part)

Combine sugar, ½ cup water, orange juice and salt in a medium saucepan.

Bring to a boil and add cranberries. Return to a boil. Reduce heat and boil gently for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Stir in orange zest or peel, cover and cool completely at room temperature. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
